Understanding your BMI
Body Mass Index = weight (kg) Γ· height (m)Β²
Under 18.5 β underweight
18.5 β 24.9 β healthy range
25 β 29.9 β overweight
30+ β above healthy range
To measure it properly:
β’ Weigh yourself in the morning, after the bathroom, before eating, in light clothing.
β’ Use the same scale, on a hard floor, at the same time of day each week.
β’ Measure height without shoes, standing straight against a wall.
Keep in mind: BMI is a rough screening number. It can read "high" for muscular people and miss other health factors. Also, for people of South Asian descent, health bodies use lower cutoffs β above healthy weight from about 23 and higher-risk from about 27.5 β because cardiometabolic risk (especially diabetes) rises at lower BMI in South Asian populations. If that's your background, read your number with those thresholds in mind. Use the weekly weight trend here β not any single day β as your real signal, and talk to your doctor about what a healthy range means for you.
